Sometimes employees forget to clock in or out, which can result in a missing start or end alert appearing in their timesheet.
Don't worry - these alerts are easy to review and resolve.
Missing start or end
If an employee forgets to clock in at the start of their shift, they can still clock for a break or clock out later in the day.
When they do, Rota & Time Clock will:
Create a Missing Start or End alert
Automatically use the employee's scheduled start time as a temporary clock-in time
Allow the employee to suggest the time they actually arrived
Please note it is not possible to disable the suggested start time.
To review the suggestion:
Open the employee's timesheet.
Click on the time entry with the alert.
You'll see the time the employee suggested as their actual arrival time.
If the suggested time is correct, you can click on "Approve"
The suggested time will be applied and the time entry will be approved. Alternatively, you can click on "Use suggestion" and then approve the time entry.
Missing clock-out
If an employee forgets to clock out, you'll see the same "Missing start or end" alert.
In this case, the end time will be blank.
To fix it:
Open the employee's timesheet.
Click on the affected time entry.
Enter the correct finish time.
Save your changes.
Once the entry is complete, you can approve it as usual.
Helping employees avoid these alerts
If your employees aren't sure what to do when they forget to clock in or out, it's worth pointing them to our employee guide on missed clockings.
It explains how they can submit suggested times and helps ensure managers have the information they need to quickly approve timesheets.
