Save yourself some manual work by setting rules that automatically add breaks to shifts that meet your chosen criteria.
Note: Only administrators can create and manage automated break rules.
How to set up an automated break rule
In the Rota, click More (three dots) in the top-right corner
Select Automated break rules
Click Create from the top right
Enter the break details and rule conditions
Click Create.
That's it. Any new shifts that match the rule will have the break added automatically.
Choose your criteria
You can set a rule based on three things:
Shift length – apply the rule to shifts of a specific length, or to shifts within a certain time range.
Location – apply the rule to one or more locations, or to all locations.
Position – apply the rule to specific positions.
You can combine these criteria to make the rule as specific as you need.
For example, you could automatically add a 30-minute break to shifts longer than six hours at a particular location.
Good to know
Automatically added breaks aren't set in stone. You can delete them manually from an individual shift if needed.
Need to change a rule? Go back to More → Manage automated break rules, where you can delete existing rules and create new ones.
