The Rota & Time Clock API allows developers to securely connect your Rota & Time Clock account with other software. Using the API, you can read data from your account, update existing information, and build custom integrations to automate your workflows.
What can you do with the API?
The API provides secure access to your organisation's data, making it possible to integrate Rota & Time Clock with your payroll, HR, or other business systems.
Common use cases include:
Automatically creating employee profiles from an HR or payroll system.
Exporting timesheet data to generate custom payroll reports.
Processing time off requests through an external HR platform.
Synchronising employee, rota, or attendance data between systems.
Building custom automations to reduce manual administration.
What the API can't do
The API gives you access to your account data - it doesn't allow you to customise the Rota & Time Clock application itself, so you're unable to add new features or modify the user interface or menus.
The API is designed to read and update data only.
Getting started
Your developer can access the API through the Rota & Time Clock Developer Portal:
They'll need to create a separate developer account using their existing Rota & Time Clock email address and password. This account is independent from their standard Rota & Time Clock login.
Using the developer portal
Once the developer account has been created, the portal includes documentation to help you get started.
From the developer portal, your developer can:
Create one or more applications.
Configure read and/or write permissions for your Rota & Time Clock organisation.
Browse the API documentation, including more than 75 available endpoints.
Use the Playground to authenticate against your organisation and test API requests before building an integration.
Tip: The API is intended for developers or technical users with experience working with REST APIs. If you don't have in-house development expertise, you can also work with a third-party developer or integration partner.
