Setting up clocking from a computer

Employees can clock from their computer/laptop - restrict web clocking based on IP address.

As well as using the mobile app, employees can clock in and out directly from their Rota & Time Clock account in a web browser.

When enabling web clocking, you can choose whether employees can clock in from anywhere or only when connected to approved company networks.

Enable web clocking

To allow employees to clock in and out from a computer:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Select Attendance from the sub menu

  3. Under Ways to clock, toggle on 'Enable clocking on a computer'

  4. Click 'Save'.

Once saved, you'll be asked whether you'd like to restrict clocking to approved networks.

Choosing the right setup

Allow clocking from any network if:

  • Employees regularly work remotely

  • Staff work from multiple locations

  • You don't need to restrict where employees clock in

Restrict clocking to approved networks if:

  • Employees should only clock in while on-site

  • You want additional control over attendance tracking

  • Staff primarily work from fixed office or workplace locations

Restrict clocking to approved networks

For additional security, you can limit web clocking to specific networks, such as your office or workplace internet connection.

When prompted:

  • Select Yes to restrict clocking to approved networks.

  • Select No to allow employees to clock in from any internet connection.

Don't worry if you're not sure yet - you can change this setting at any time.

Add Your Current Network

You'll have the option to quickly authorise the network you're currently connected to.

This makes it easy to add your office network without needing to enter any technical details manually.

Managing approved networks

You can add, remove or update approved networks whenever you need.

To manage your authorised networks:

  1. Go to Attendance

  2. Click Authorised Networks

  3. Add or remove networks as required.

This is useful if your organisation changes offices, adds new locations or introduces additional workplace networks.

Tracking clock-ins from unauthorised networks

If you've enabled network restrictions, you can still see when employees attempt to clock in from a network that isn't approved.

Simply check the 'Clock log' to view clocking activity and identify any networks that may need to be added to your authorised list.

šŸ’” This can be particularly useful for organisations with multiple offices or employees who occasionally work from different locations.
