Here's how to save time by automatically adding public holidays to your employees' calendars.
Once set up, there's no need to manually add each public holiday throughout the year, helping you avoid mistakes and reducing admin work.
Even better, if you add new employees during the year, any upcoming public holidays will be added for them automatically.
Setting up public holidays
To get started:
Click 'Settings' from the menu on the left
Select 'Time Off'
Click on the 'Public holidays' tab at the top of the page
By default, you'll see a list of public holidays based on your selected region.
From here you can:
Enable or disable public holidays
Add your own public holidays
Manage different regional public holiday calendars
Managing different regions
If your organisation operates across multiple regions with different public holidays, you can set up separate holiday calendars for each region.
Once your regions have been created, employees can be assigned to the relevant one.
You can manage regions right here:
And add or remove a region:
To assign an employee to a specific region:

You can choose:
Automatic accounting – calculates the value automatically.
Manual accounting – you can use the employee's default value or enter a fixed value.
6. Click 'Create'.
Your public holiday will now appear in the list, where it can be edited or deleted at any time by clicking the three small dots.

Simply enable Send a reminder and choose a date.
We'll send you a reminder so you can update your public holiday calendar for the year ahead.
How automatic public holidays work
Once created, public holidays are automatically added to employees on the selected date using the leave type and accounting method you've chosen.
A couple of things worth noting:
Public holidays are created in an employee's primary location if they belong to multiple locations.
Public holidays are published automatically, so employees can see them right away.
Making changes for individual employees
Need to make an exception? No problem.
Although public holidays are added automatically for everyone, you can still edit them for individual employees without affecting anyone else.
For example, some employees may observe a public holiday on a different day. In that case, you can simply adjust the date for those employees while leaving everyone else's public holiday unchanged.
Important: If you make any manual changes, don't forget to publish them so employees can see the updates.
