Understanding time off bank balances

Want to know what the different balance figures mean in your employees' time off banks? The following article will help you understand it!

Banks tab

You can view an employee's bank balances by going to Time off > Banks and clicking on their name.

You'll see four different values:

  • Current balance

  • Approved

  • Available

  • Taken

Current balance

The Current Balance shows how much time is currently available in the employee's bank right now. This balance doesn't take any future booked leave into account.

For example, if an employee has been allocated 20 days for their annual allowance, their Current balance will show 20 days until leave is actually taken.

Approved

The Approved balance shows leave that has already been approved and scheduled for future dates, but hasn't happened yet.

In other words, these days are already spoken for, but have not been deducted yet.

Available

The Available balance shows how much leave the employee can still book.

It's calculated as:

Current balance - Approved leave

For example: an employee has 20 days in their bank and 1 day of leave approved, the available balance is 19 days.

Taken

The Taken balance shows how much leave has already been used to date. In the aforementioned example, the employee had a 1 day leave request approved for the future. Once the date has passed, the balance will move from Approved to Taken
