Disabling password autofill in Chrome

How to remove the automatic entry of saved passwords that can cause confusion when logging in.

If Chrome keeps filling in an old password when you're trying to enter a new one, you can temporarily disable password autofill and enter your details manually.

To do this:

  1. Open Chrome on your computer

  2. Click the three dots in the top-right corner

  3. Select Passwords and autofill > Google Password Manager

  4. In the Passwords tab, select Settings from the left hand menu

  5. Toggle off Offer to save passwords.

Once disabled, Chrome will stop automatically suggesting or filling saved passwords, allowing you to enter your new password manually.

Note: If Chrome is still filling in the wrong password, you may also need to remove the saved password from Google Password Manager.
