An open shift is a type of shift that is not assigned to an employee when it is created. Open shifts are useful for finding volunteers (making a call to all đŁ) to fill a work shift.
After you have created and published your open shifts, employees who meet the following criterias can volunteer:
Have the same location as the open shift
Have the same position as the open shift
Do not have approved time off
Do not have a rotad shift that conflicts
You can then assign the shift to the volunteer of your choice.
1- Assigning an open shift via the rota
To assign an open shift to a volunteer via the rota, first click on the open shift to directly in the rota.
Next;
Click on the âVolunteersâ section at the top of the window.
Click on the volunteer of your choice.
Click on âAssignâ.

2- Assigning an open shift via the open shift requests
To assign a shift to be filled to a volunteer via shift requests:
Move your cursor over the âRotaâ tab
Select the âOpen shiftsâ option
Then click on the desired request
Click on âAssign this open shiftâ
Select the employee of your choice (you can use filters to help you select a volunteer)
Click on âAssignâ
